American Dusky Flycatcher

Empidonax oberholseri Phillips, AR, 1939

American Dusky Flycatcher, Empidonax oberholseri, breeds in western Canada and western USA and spends the nonbreeding season in south-western USA and Mexico. It is a passerine in the tyrant flycatcher family, first described by Phillips in 1939. In the field it is one of the Empidonax flycatchers, a group that is hard to separate from its close relatives. Its range and breeding grounds are among the main features used to tell it apart from similar species.
