Black-throated Green Warbler

Setophaga virens

The Black-throated Green Warbler is a small songbird with a striking black throat and bright yellow face. Its upperparts are olive-green, and it has white wing bars and a yellow patch on its sides. This warbler breeds in coniferous and mixed forests of North America and winters in the Caribbean and Central America. It forages for insects and spiders in the tree canopy, often using its slender bill to glean prey from leaves and branches. During the breeding season, it can be heard singing a high-pitched, buzzy song from the treetops. This species is known for its distinctive appearance and energetic foraging behavior.
