Carrot River Birding Tour – Quest for Whip-poor-wills, Chimney Swifts and Golden-winged Warblers 2027
A three-day self-drive birding journey into northeastern Saskatchewan, searching forest and river-valley habitats for eastern specialities.
About this tour
Travel into the Pasquia Hills forest and the Carrot and Saskatchewan river valleys on a three-day search for Eastern Whip-poor-will, Chimney Swift, Golden-winged Warbler and other eastern forest birds. The route combines evening listening with daytime exploration of remote forest roads.
One evening focuses on nocturnal birds and swifts along the Saskatchewan River valley. Further field time follows the northern side of the Pasquia Hills for warblers, vireos, flycatchers and other forest species, with a spotting scope available when useful.
Private tours are available during June and July for parties of up to four. Participants travel in their own vehicle and arrange meals and accommodation; weather may require changes to the planned sequence.
