Blackburnian Warbler

Setophaga fusca

The Blackburnian Warbler is a small, strikingly colored songbird found in the forests of North America. Males have a vibrant orange throat and a black and white striped head, while females have a more subdued plumage. These warblers are known for their high-pitched, buzzy song and their habit of foraging for insects in the treetops. They breed in coniferous and mixed forests, and during migration, they can be found in a variety of wooded habitats. Their population is considered stable, but they face threats from habitat loss and climate change.
