Blue-headed Vireo

Vireo solitarius

The Blue-headed Vireo is a small songbird found in North America. It has a distinctive blue-gray head and back, with a white throat and belly. This species is known for its melodious, warbling song, often heard in mixed woodlands during the breeding season. Blue-headed Vireos primarily feed on insects and forage in the middle to upper levels of trees. They build cup-shaped nests in coniferous or mixed forests, usually at moderate heights. During migration, they can be spotted in a variety of wooded habitats. This species is known for its steady population, although it faces threats from habitat loss and climate change.
