Duck Lake and Nisbet Forest Birding Tour – 6 great hours with fascinating woodland and water birds
A six-hour self-drive birding circuit north of Saskatoon, combining farmland and Duck Lake wetlands with roadside stops in Nisbet Forest.
About this tour
Travel north from Saskatoon to explore the fields and wetlands around Duck Lake before continuing into Nisbet Forest. Open farmland and lake margins offer contrasting habitat for prairie songbirds, shorebirds, grebes, ducks and marsh birds.
Roadside forest stops broaden the day toward woodland species such as Broad-winged Hawk, Rose-breasted Grosbeak, Eastern Phoebe, vireos, thrushes and warblers. Lake and pond stops may also produce loons, swans or other waterbirds. The guide adjusts the route to current conditions, and every sighting remains uncertain.
This is an easy, mainly driving-based six-hour tour with optional short walks. Participants use their own or rented vehicle. Optional two-hour extensions to Fort Carlton or Gillies Lake can be discussed separately after inquiry.
