Blue-and-yellow Macaw

Ara ararauna

The Blue-and-yellow Macaw is a strikingly colorful parrot native to South America. It is known for its vibrant blue and yellow plumage, with accents of green and red on its wings. These social birds are often found in pairs or small flocks, and are known for their loud, raucous calls. They are highly intelligent and are capable of mimicking human speech. Blue-and-yellow Macaws primarily feed on fruits, nuts, and seeds, and are important seed dispersers in their native habitats. Unfortunately, they are threatened by habitat loss and capture for the pet trade.
