Bridled Quail-Dove

Geotrygon mystacea (Temminck, 1811)

Bridled Quail-Dove, Geotrygon mystacea, is a bird of the Lesser Antilles in North America, with its breeding range extending from Saint Lucia north and west to Puerto Rico. It belongs to the pigeon and dove family and was described by Temminck in 1811. The species is monotypic. It is linked with forested mountain country where the understorey is thick and the ground is covered in leaf litter. Adults are mainly brown, with a clear white line below the eye and a small white mark on the throat.
