Brown Dipper, Cinclus pallasii, is a passerine in the Cinclidae family that breeds across central and eastern parts of the Palearctic. It lives in mountain areas of the east Palearctic, usually at medium to low heights where streams run through the hills. The bird is a stream specialist with a thrush-like shape and a raised tail. It was first described by Temminck in 1820. Also called Pallas’s dipper, Asian dipper or the Asiatic dipper, it is the largest dipper. Its plumage is chocolate-brown, with the back and breast a little paler.
