Morus capensis
The Cape Gannet is a large seabird with a distinctive appearance, characterized by its snowy white plumage, golden-yellow head and neck, and striking blue eyes. These birds are highly specialized for marine life, with long, slender wings and a streamlined body that enables them to dive into the ocean at high speeds to catch fish. Cape Gannets are found along the coast of southern Africa, where they breed in large colonies on offshore islands. They are known for their spectacular plunge-diving behavior, often diving from great heights to forage for fish. These birds are highly social and form strong pair bonds during the breeding season.
