Cape Teal

Cape Teal, Anas capensis, is a duck in the Anatidae family and the order Anseriformes. It breeds across Africa from Chad, Sudan and Ethiopia south to South Africa. The species is linked to open wetlands in sub-Saharan Africa. It is a dabbling duck and is generally thinly spread, though it occurs over a wide area. The sexes are alike, and the bird is usually very quiet apart from courtship. It is essentially resident, but can shift with rainfall. Moulting flocks may gather in numbers as high as 2000.
