Chilean Flamingo

Phoenicopterus chilensis

The Chilean Flamingo is a large wading bird known for its distinctive pink plumage and long, slender neck. These birds are found in South America, particularly in parts of Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, and Peru. They inhabit shallow alkaline and saline lakes, estuaries, and lagoons where they feed on small invertebrates and algae. Chilean Flamingos are social birds, often found in large flocks, and they are known for their synchronized group displays during courtship. These flamingos are classified as near threatened due to habitat loss, disturbance, and pollution in their breeding and foraging areas.
