Common Buzzard

Buteo buteo (Linnaeus, 1758)

Common Buzzard, Buteo buteo, breeds across the Palearctic and is widespread there, with non-breeding birds reaching Africa and the Oriental Region. It is a bird of prey in the family Accipitridae, and its breeding range covers most of Europe and much of the wider Palearctic. In many parts of its range it stays all year, while birds from colder areas and the eastern breeding range move south for the northern winter. It was described by Linnaeus in 1758.
