Common Emerald Dove

Common Emerald Dove, Chalcophaps indica, is a pigeon of the Oriental Region and Australasia, breeding from India and Sri Lanka east to south China, Taiwan, the Philippines, the Indonesian Archipelago and the Raja Ampat Islands north-west of New Guinea. It is a resident bird of tropical and subtropical forest, as well as other thick wet woodland, farms and mangroves. The species is stocky and medium-sized, with bright emerald green on the back and wings, blackish flight feathers and tail, and dark vinous pink on the head and underparts. The male has a white shoulder patch and grey crown.
