Psilopogon haemacephalus (Müller, PLS, 1776)

Coppersmith Barbet, Psilopogon haemacephalus, is an Asian barbet of the Oriental Region, widespread across its breeding range. It lives in the Indian subcontinent and parts of Southeast Asia, where it uses gardens, groves and open woodland. A key feature is its loud, metallic repeated call, which gives the bird its common name. It makes its nest by excavating a hole in a tree, usually on the underside of a narrow horizontal branch. It is mainly fruit-eating, but also takes insects, including winged termites, and may feed on flower petals.
