Polioptila lembeyei (Gundlach, 1858)

Cuban Gnatcatcher, Polioptila lembeyei, is a bird of Cuba in the family Polioptilidae. It occurs along much of the island’s north and south-east coasts, with further scattered populations on the southern shore. It is tied to dry scrub, usually at low elevations. The species was named for Juan Lembeye and was described by Gundlach in 1858. It is a small gnatcatcher with a black crescent behind the eye, a long black tail edged in white, and a female that is paler than the male.
