Eurasian Golden Oriole, Oriolus oriolus, breeds across western Eurasia in the Palearctic and spends the non-breeding season in Africa. It is a passerine in the Oriolidae family and was first described by Linnaeus in 1758. The species is the only Old World oriole that breeds in temperate parts of the Northern Hemisphere. It is a summer migrant in Europe and the wider Palearctic, and its range extends from western Europe and Scandinavia east to China. It also formerly bred in Great Britain, with the last confirmed nesting in East Anglia in 2009.
