European Robin

Erithacus rubecula (Linnaeus, 1758)

European Robin Erithacus rubecula is a passerine of the Muscicapidae family, breeding in western and central parts of the Palearctic and reaching North Africa outside the breeding season. It is widespread across Europe and extends east to Western Siberia. In the British Isles it is also called the robin or robin redbreast. Adults are alike in plumage, with a red-orange breast and face, grey around the face, brown upperparts and a pale belly. Young birds are brown and speckled, without the red breast. First-winter birds look like adults but show more noticeable yellow-brown wing covert tips.
