Todiramphus macleayii
The Forest Kingfisher (Todiramphus macleayii) is a medium-sized kingfisher found in Australia, Indonesia, and Papua New Guinea. It has a striking blue and white plumage with a black mask and a long, pointed bill. This species is known for its distinctive call, a loud, descending series of trills. Forest Kingfishers are typically found in woodland and forested areas, where they hunt for insects, small reptiles, and fish from perches or by hovering before diving. They are known for their agile flight and excellent fishing skills. The Forest Kingfisher is not currently considered threatened and is listed as Least Concern by the IUCN.
