Green Iora

Aegithina viridissima (Bonaparte, 1850)

Green Iora, Aegithina viridissima, is a passerine of the Aegithinidae family that breeds in south-east Asia, including Sumatra and Borneo. It inhabits lowland forest, secondary growth and mangrove forest, and is also found in the canopy of these wooded areas. The species was first described by Bonaparte in 1850. It is recognised by its dark olive and black plumage pattern, with the sexes differing in the markings around the eyes and on the wings, and the juvenile resembling the female but paler.
