Grey Nightjar

Caprimulgus jotaka Temminck & Schlegel, 1845

Grey Nightjar, Caprimulgus jotaka, is a nightjar of the Oriental Region, breeding from the Himalayas through eastern and south-eastern Asia. Outside the breeding season it occurs on the Indian subcontinent and in south-eastern Asia as far south as the Greater Sundas. Temminck and Schlegel described it in 1845. It is placed in the family Caprimulgidae and the order Caprimulgiformes. It is also known as grey nightjar in some non-local literature. Some authorities treat it as a subspecies of the jungle nightjar, Caprimulgus indicus.
