Horned Screamer

Anhima cornuta (Linnaeus, 1766)

Horned Screamer Anhima cornuta is a member of the Anhimidae, the screamer family in the order Anseriformes. It breeds in South America, from Colombia and Venezuela through Amazonia to Bolivia. The species lives in lowland wetlands and is found in swamps, marshes and meadows beside rivers and lakes. It is a large bird with a small bill and a distinctive horn-like structure on the crown. Its range is broad, and it remains fairly common overall, although numbers have declined in some places.
