Manu Road Birding Tour - 3 Days

Our journey into the incredible world of Peruvian birdwatching begins before sunrise, departing Cusco at 4:30 a.m. toward the legendary Manu Road, one of the most biodiverse routes on Earth. We'll make a shortstop in the picturesque village of Paucartambo to buy water, fruits, or snacks before continuing to the Acjanaco checkpoint, the official entrance to Manu National Park. Throughout the day, we'll explore changing ecosystems and altitudes, from high Andean peaks at 3,600 meters (12,000 ft) down to lush tropical forests at 500 meters (1,640 ft), arriving in Pillcopata, where we'll spend the night. Throughout the day, we delve deep into the heart of Manu Road, navigating a tapestry of altitudes. Commencing our journey at 3600 meters (12,000 feet), we traverse the park's lofty peaks before gradually descending to 500 meters (1,640 feet), where Pillcopata awaits with its green embrace of tropical rainforest.

Bamboo Patches, Inkamazonia Hummingbirds Garden and Machuwasi lake. At 6:00 a.m., we'll visit the Machuwasi Lagoon, a beautiful wetland deep in the rainforest and home to two of the most iconic Amazon birds: The Hoatzin and the Horned Screamer. We'll then continue to the Pico de Hoz Hummingbird Garden, where different ecosystems reveal new species of hummingbirds and forest birds. At midday, we'll visit the Inkamazonia Hummingbird Garden, where we'll enjoy a delicious local lunch before exploring the surrounding trails in search of more birds of Manu. Later, we'll head to the bamboo patches, a fascinating habitat that shelters unique and specialized bird species..

After breakfast, we'll say goodbye to the biodiversity of Manu and begin our return journey to Cusco. We'll make a brief stop for lunch along the way and arrive in Cusco around 6:00 p.m., marking the end of an enriching and unforgettable Birdwatching experience in Manu Road.
