It is known for its distinctive bare pink head, powerful hooked beak, and a large lappet of skin that hangs from each side of its face. This vulture is a scavenger, feeding on carrion and playing a crucial role in the ecosystem by cleaning up decaying animal matter. Lappet-faced Vultures are often seen soaring high in the sky, using their keen eyesight to locate food. They are social birds, often gathering in large groups at carcasses. Unfortunately, this species faces threats from habitat loss, poisoning, and persecution, leading to a decline in its population.
