Marbled Duck

Marmaronetta angustirostris

The Marbled Duck, also known as the Marbled Teal, is a small, distinctive waterfowl species found in wetlands and shallow freshwater habitats across parts of Europe, North Africa, and western and central Asia. This duck is known for its striking marbled plumage, with intricate patterns of black, brown, and white. It has a short, dark bill and a distinctive white eye-ring. Marbled Ducks are primarily nocturnal feeders, foraging on seeds, aquatic plants, and small invertebrates. They are known for their secretive behavior and are often found in pairs or small groups. The species faces threats from habitat loss, hunting, and pollution.
