Menetries's Warbler

Curruca mystacea (Ménétriés, 1832)

Menetries's Warbler, Curruca mystacea, is a migratory passerine of the Sylviidae family that breeds in south-central parts of the Palearctic and spends the non-breeding season in north-east Africa and the Arabian Peninsula. It is a small warbler of Southwest Asia, and it is closely allied to the Sardinian Warbler, which it resembles. The species was named for Édouard Ménétries, the French zoologist who described it in 1832. It lives in scrub, thickets, open woodland, cultivated land and gardens, especially in dry continental areas, and is often linked with tamarisk.
