Orange-breasted Falcon

Orange-breasted Falcon, Falco deiroleucus, is a falcon of Middle and South America, breeding from southern Mexico to northern Argentina. It belongs to Falconidae and was described by Temminck in 1825. It is a scarce bird with a much reduced range, and it depends on tropical rain forest and semi-deciduous forest with cliffs for nesting. It favours mature forest, though it also occurs where woodland is mixed with more open ground. It is often mistaken for the bat falcon, but adults show an orange band across the upper breast above the black chest.
