Rock Bunting

The Rock Bunting (Emberiza cia) is a small passerine bird found in rocky and mountainous areas across southern Europe, North Africa, and parts of the Middle East and Central Asia. It is characterized by its streaked brown and buff plumage, with a distinctive white throat and belly. The male has a blue-grey head and a chestnut shoulder patch, while the female is more subdued in color. Rock Buntings are often found foraging for seeds and insects among rocky outcrops and scrubland. They are known for their melodious song, which is often heard during the breeding season. Despite facing some habitat loss and localized threats, the Rock Bunting is currently assessed as Least Concern by the IUCN.
