Savannah Sparrow

Passerculus sandwichensis

The Savannah Sparrow is a small, migratory bird found in open grasslands, salt marshes, and agricultural fields across North America. It has a streaked brown and white plumage with a yellowish eyebrow stripe and a short, notched tail. These sparrows are known for their distinctive song, which is a series of clear, whistled notes. They forage on the ground for seeds, insects, and small invertebrates. During the breeding season, they build cup-shaped nests on the ground and raise their young. The Savannah Sparrow is a common and adaptable species, but faces threats from habitat loss and agricultural intensification.
