Leucogeranus leucogeranus (Pallas, 1773)

Siberian Crane Leucogeranus leucogeranus is a crane of the Palearctic, breeding in north-western and east-central Siberia and spending the non-breeding season in Iran, northern India and southern China. It belongs to the family Gruidae and was described by Pallas in 1773. Among cranes, it is set apart by its almost entirely white adult plumage, with black primary feathers that show in flight. Its breeding populations are in the Arctic tundra of western and eastern Russia, and the eastern birds move to China in winter while the western birds go to Iran and, formerly, India.
