Sumatran Treepie

Corydon sumatranus

The Sumatran Treepie (Corydon sumatranus) is a medium-sized bird found in the forests of Sumatra and the Malay Peninsula. It has a distinctive black and white plumage, with a black head, wings, and tail, and a white body. This treepie is known for its loud and varied calls, often heard echoing through the forest canopy. It is an omnivorous species, feeding on fruits, insects, small vertebrates, and even eggs. The Sumatran Treepie is an important seed disperser in its habitat, contributing to forest regeneration. However, like many forest-dwelling species, it faces threats from habitat loss and fragmentation.
