Variable Sunbird, Cinnyris venustus, is a sunbird that breeds across western, central and eastern Africa. It is a resident of equatorial Africa and occurs in open woodland and cultivated areas. The species is known for its variable plumage, with the adult male showing a glossy green head, throat and nape, plus a maroon breast band. In most forms the male has a yellow belly, though some have orange or white instead. The female is grey-brown above with yellowish underparts and a pale supercilium.
