Violet-tailed Sunbird, Anthreptes aurantius, is a bird of the family Nectariniidae that breeds in Africa from Cameroon to eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo and south to northern Angola. It is associated with places near water in forest, scrub and mangrove. The species was described by Verreaux, J and Verreaux, É in 1851. It belongs to the passerine order and is part of the violet-backed sunbird superspecies.
