Yellowhammer

Emberiza citrinella Linnaeus, 1758

Yellowhammer, Emberiza citrinella, is a bunting of the Palearctic, breeding across the British Isles, northern Scandinavia, the edge of the Iberian Peninsula, eastern subarctic Russia, central Siberia, northern Mediterranean mountains, the Balkans, the Caucasus, northern Kazakhstan and far north-central Mongolia. In the nonbreeding season it makes short to moderate movements south to fields and orchards, reaching southern Iberia, Turkey, Israel, western Iran, southern Kazakhstan and northern Afghanistan. It is a passerine in the Emberizidae and was described by Linnaeus in 1758.
