Yellowhead, Mohoua ochrocephala, is a passerine of the family Mohouidae that breeds in New Zealand’s South Island and on nearby islands, with Stewart Island now extinct. It is a bird of forested country and was once widespread there, but its range has shrunk greatly. The species is also known as mohua. It was first described in 1789 by Gmelin. Yellowhead is one of three birds placed in Mohoua, and no subspecies are recognised.
