13-Day Wings Over the Wild Birding and Photography Safari
A private 13-day birding and wildlife photography journey from Maun to Kasane through Moremi, Khwai, Savuti and the Chobe Riverfront, with mobile tented camps and a maximum of seven guests per vehicle.
About this tour
Travel across northern Botswana with Lucas Tshupo and Wild For Game Safaris on a private 12-night journey from Maun to Kasane. The route links the wetlands and floodplains of Moremi and Khwai with Savuti woodland and the Chobe Riverfront, creating a varied birding and photography programme.
Morning and afternoon drives are paced for observation and photography, with dedicated birding time in Savuti and along the Chobe River. Depending on water levels, a mokoro excursion in Khwai offers a quieter perspective on channels and wetland birds; additional drives are used when the water activity cannot operate.
A mobile team moves the comfortable tented camp between the main areas. Each guest tent includes beds, linen, towels and private en-suite facilities, while a professional guide, chef and camp assistants manage the route and field logistics.

Itinerary ▼
Meet in Maun and travel into Moremi Game Reserve. Bird and photograph along the route before settling into the mobile camp in the Xakanaxa area.
Spend two full days exploring the Xakanaxa area on morning and afternoon drives. The programme covers wetland edges, floodplains and woodland for birds, wildlife and changing photographic light.
Leave Xakanaxa for Khwai as the mobile camp relocates. The transfer remains part of the safari, with stops for birds and wildlife along the changing habitats.
Use morning and afternoon drives to explore Khwai’s floodplains, channels and woodland. The guide adapts the route to current bird activity, wildlife movement and photographic conditions.
Take a quiet mokoro excursion when water levels and safe conditions allow, with additional game-drive birding during the day. If the water activity cannot operate, the programme continues by vehicle.
Travel north to Savuti, birding and photographing along the route while the camp team establishes the next private campsite.
Dedicate two full days to Savuti’s birdlife and wider wildlife. The itinerary highlights opportunities for raptors, Secretarybirds, rollers and bee-eaters, with observation time shaped around current conditions.
Continue to the Chobe Riverfront, using the transfer for birding and photography before settling into the final mobile camp.
Explore the riverfront for waterbirds and woodland species. Possible highlights named by the operator include African Skimmer, African Finfoot, Rock Pratincole and African Fish Eagle.
Complete a final morning activity before transferring to Kasane Airport for the onward journey.
