Private 8-Day Okavango Delta Birding and Photography Safari

About this tour
This private eight-day, seven-night mobile safari follows the Okavango system into Moremi Game Reserve before continuing through the Khwai Area. Floodplains, lagoons, reed beds, permanent water and mopane or riparian woodland create a changing field setting for birding and wildlife photography with Lucas Tshupo.
The trip operates year-round, while November through April is normally strongest for summer migrants and broader bird diversity. Rufous-naped Lark, Southern Ground Hornbill and Lilac-breasted Roller represent drier habitats; African Fish Eagle, Wattled Crane and Slaty Egret reflect the delta. Jacanas, darters, storks, owls and nightjars add further possibilities, but season and wild behaviour govern every sighting.
Morning and afternoon game drives form the route’s backbone. A mokoro excursion gives a low, quiet perspective on the channels, Khwai drives may extend after dark, and motorboat activity in Moremi depends on suitable water levels. The schedule stays flexible so guiding time can respond to current bird activity, weather and photography conditions rather than forcing every activity into every departure.
Mobile tented accommodation, the guide and camp crew, the specified safari activities, local road transfers, relevant park and camping fees, meals and drinks are included subject to the final proposal. International or domestic flights, insurance, personal spending, gratuities and optional extensions remain excluded unless expressly added.
The confirmed starting amount is USD 4,550 per person for seven nights, with a minimum of four guests. Vehicles have nine passenger seats but normally carry up to seven guests so each has window access; larger parties require additional vehicles. Guests meet at Maun Airport. A same-day charter from Maun to Moremi can be arranged for USD 400 per person when selected in the proposal.

Itinerary
Day 1
Into Moremi from Maun
Meet at Maun Airport and use the confirmed air transfer into Moremi Game Reserve. Bird and photograph along the route from the airstrip to the mobile camp, reading the transition between woodland, open floodplain and wetland habitat.
Day 2
Multiple habitats across Moremi
Use early and afternoon drives over the following days to explore riparian woodland, reed beds, grassland, floodplains and permanent water. When water levels make it practical, a motorboat outing may complement or replace one drive; the field plan follows bird and wildlife activity.
Day 5
A moving safari from Moremi to Khwai
Complete another Moremi drive before travelling northeast toward Khwai as the mobile camp changes location. Continue birding and photography along the route, pause for a picnic lunch, then settle into the Khwai camp.
Day 6
Khwai by daylight, mokoro and after dark
Explore Khwai floodplains and woodland on drives timed for productive light and activity, with selected outings able to continue after sunset. Where conditions permit, add a mokoro journey through shallow channels to watch fish eagles, jacanas, darters, cormorants, geese and storks from water level.
Day 8
Last field time and the Maun connection
Use the final morning for a short drive before transferring to the airstrip. Take the arranged flight to Maun, or connect with another safari destination when that continuation forms part of the confirmed proposal.

Yes. Lucas confirmed that Wild For Game Safaris organizes birdwatching trips, and the Moremi and Khwai route can give birding and photography additional observation time while retaining the wider safari experience.
Is the motorboat cruise guaranteed?
No. The motorboat activity depends on seasonal water levels; additional game-drive exploration is used when boating is not possible.
Are wildlife sightings guaranteed?
No. Birds and other wildlife move freely, so every sighting depends on season, water, weather and current activity.
