Prairie Grasslands Birding Tour
An eight-hour self-drive tour through grassland habitats around Saskatoon, using frequent roadside stops to look and listen for prairie birds.
About this tour
Spend a full day exploring prairie habitat in the Saskatoon region with a local guide. Open grassland and roadside viewpoints offer chances to find grouse, hawks, curlews, godwits, pipits, shrikes, meadowlarks and prairie sparrows, with the mix varying through the season.
The guide identifies birds by sight and sound and provides a spotting scope for closer views when useful. Beginners and experienced birdwatchers are welcome, but individual species are never guaranteed.
This easy, eight-hour programme is a self-drive tour with frequent roadside stops. Participants provide their own or rented vehicle, and the estimated return distance is about 500 kilometres. An early departure is recommended because bird activity and the driving distance shape the day.
