About this tour
Visit a selection of prairie lakes in the Saskatoon region with a local guide. Deep-water stops can hold diving ducks and pelicans, while shallow ponds and marsh edges add dabbling ducks, grebes, rails, wetland sparrows and other marsh birds.
The guide brings a spotting scope and chooses the day’s lake sequence according to water levels, access and current bird activity. Private outings can provide useful photography opportunities, but light, distance and sightings cannot be guaranteed.
This is an easy, four-hour self-drive tour covering an estimated 150 kilometres, with observation mainly from the vehicle or at roadside stops. It can suit some low-mobility participants because remaining in the vehicle is possible. Participants supply their own or rented vehicle.
