About this tour
This private two-day program pairs two complementary birding areas in Guatemala's central highlands. Begin in a compact mixed-forest park within Guatemala City, where a documented community of 220 bird species offers an unusually varied urban birding experience. Continue near Antigua Guatemala at a private reserve spanning dry forest, pine-oak woodland and cloud forest from about 1,600 to 2,400 metres.
Rodolfo Walsh leads both days for a maximum of four participants and adapts the pace to observation and photography interests. The urban park can produce hummingbirds, euphonias, brushfinches, motmots and regional specialties, while the Antigua reserve adds an elevational range, forest trails and hummingbird feeders visited by several species. Bushy-crested Jay, Guatemalan Flicker and Blue-throated Motmot are among the regional highlights possible across the program.
The confirmed package price is USD 550 for one participant, plus USD 50 for each additional participant. The fee covers collection from a Guatemala City hotel, admission charges, a field checklist and loan binoculars for as many as four guests. Travellers arrange their own meals. Birds are wild and no sighting is guaranteed.

Day 2
Private reserve birding near Antigua
Travel to a private reserve near Antigua Guatemala and follow habitats that change from lower dry forest to pine-oak woodland and cloud forest. Forest trails and hummingbird feeders broaden the day's possibilities, including regional highland birds and several hummingbird species. The outing takes approximately six to eight hours including travel.
