Cyanocorax melanocyaneus (Hartlaub, 1844)

Bushy-crested Jay, Cyanocorax melanocyaneus, is a bird of Middle America, breeding from Guatemala to Nicaragua in humid forest and in altered woodland, including coffee plantations and farmland. It belongs to the crow family and is found in montane forest, forest edges, clearings and scrub, from about 600 to 2,450 m. It has a stubble-like crest on the head, a black bill, yellow eyes and black legs. The sexes are alike, with black on the head, neck, breast and upper mantle, and dark blue upperparts with a green or violet gloss.
