Private Birdwatching on Ponza
Choose a private Ponza birdwatching walk around Monte Guardia or Punta Incenso, with routes adapted to migration, weather and your interests.
About this tour
Explore Ponza with Katharina Herta Urach, the biologist and ornithologist behind Upupa di Ponza. The private outing is built around bird observation, with short cultural and historical context woven into the walk where it helps explain the island landscape and its relationship with migration.
Two half-day routes are available. The Monte Guardia option starts near Bar Tripoli in Ponza Porto and covers about 6 km with roughly 280 m of ascent. The Le Forna to Punta Incenso option starts near Bar Tartaruga in Le Forna and covers about 7 km with roughly 100 m of ascent. Both normally take three to four hours, including frequent birdwatching stops. The route is chosen and adjusted for the season, weather and participants’ interests.
Longer Ponza programs can be arranged for at least two days, with three days ideal for covering the south, the north and additional habitats according to migration and weather. A fourth day may add a boat trip to Zannone with hiking and birdwatching when sea and weather conditions allow.
Guiding is available in English, German and Italian. The confirmed private rates, including Italian VAT, are EUR 220 for up to four hours, EUR 340 for more than four and up to eight hours, and EUR 260 per day for a multi-day program. These are private guiding rates for the group, not per-person prices. Bird activity changes with timing and conditions, so individual species are not guaranteed.
