Private Birdwatching on Ventotene
A private Ventotene birdwatching walk across the island’s varied habitats, with time for migration observation and integrated cultural context.
About this tour
Explore Ventotene on a private birdwatching outing with Katharina Herta Urach, the biologist and ornithologist behind Upupa di Ponza. The route crosses much of this small island, allowing time to watch migration activity and compare habitats rather than rushing between fixed stops.
The standard outing covers about 5 km with roughly 100 m of ascent and takes around five hours. Most of the route is paved, and the meeting point is agreed for the chosen date. Observation time makes this a longer experience than the distance alone suggests. The outing is approximately 90 percent birdwatching, with a small amount of cultural and historical interpretation integrated where it helps explain Ventotene’s landscape and its relationship with migration.
A two-day program is ideal for exploring the island more deeply and revisiting sites under different conditions. The sequence remains flexible so Katharina can respond to migration, weather and the interests of the group.
Guiding is available in English, German and Italian. The confirmed private rates, including Italian VAT, are EUR 220 for up to four hours, EUR 340 for more than four and up to eight hours, and EUR 260 per day for a multi-day program. These are private guiding rates for the group, not per-person prices. Bird activity changes naturally with timing and conditions, so individual species are not guaranteed.
