21-Day Kenya Mega Birding Tour
A 21-day Kenya circuit from the Taita Hills and coastal forests to Tsavo, Mount Kenya, Samburu, Baringo, Kakamega, Lake Victoria and Aberdare.
About this tour
This wide-ranging Kenya itinerary links many of the country’s major birding regions in a single 21-day circuit. The opening stage crosses from Arusha to the Taita Hills, then descends to Watamu for Arabuko Sokoke Forest, Dakatcha Woodland, Mida Creek, Sabaki River Mouth and optional work around Lake Jilore.
After crossing Tsavo East, the journey turns north from Nairobi to Mount Kenya’s Castle Forest. A dry-country stage follows through Isiolo, the Wajir Road and Samburu, including a focused search near Garba Tula for William’s Lark. Lake Baringo and the Tugen Hills add Rift Valley cliffs, shoreline and arid woodland.
The western half of the programme spends two full days in Kakamega Rainforest before continuing to Kisumu and the Lake Victoria shore. North Kinangop or Lake Naivasha provides the bridge to Aberdare National Park. A full Nairobi National Park day and a final Gatamaiyu Forest visit complete the route before departure. Some lodging alternatives remain flexible and are finalized with the confirmed dates; birds and access depend on current field conditions.
