Sečovlje Salina Expert Birdwatching Tour with Iztok Škornik
A three-hour expert birdwatching programme in Slovenia’s Sečovlje salt pans with ornithologist, conservationist and nature photographer Iztok Škornik.
About this tour
Explore Sečovlje Salina Nature Park with Iztok Škornik, an experienced Slovenian ornithologist, conservation professional and nature photographer whose work has focused on the salt pans for decades.
The approximately 700-hectare protected landscape combines active salt production at Lera with the former salt fields, canals, levees and wetland habitats of Fontanigge. More than 300 bird species have been recorded here, and the site is important for breeding birds, spring and autumn migration and wintering waterbirds.
This three-hour programme is arranged in advance for up to 12 participants. The route and target focus vary with season, water levels, weather and current bird activity. Sightings cannot be guaranteed. Send an inquiry through BirdWatch.info to confirm the date, current price, admission arrangements and any accessibility or equipment needs.
