About this tour

Explore El Jable, Lanzarote’s open sandy plain, on a compact morning outing led by a bird specialist connected with the Desert Watch conservation organisation. The route uses authorised tracks through a landscape shaped by dryland farming and volcanic terrain, with frequent stops to scan quietly from the vehicle.

African Houbara, Cream-coloured Courser and Eurasian Stone-curlew are the central possibilities. The wider resident community can include Lesser Short-toed Lark, Trumpeter Finch, Barbary Partridge, Eurasian Hoopoe, Berthelot’s Pipit and Southern Grey Shrike, while Barbary Falcon or Egyptian Vulture may appear with luck. Sightings always depend on current conditions and are never guaranteed.

The Land Rover provides shelter and a discreet observation point, keeping walking to a minimum and helping the group avoid disturbing wildlife. Spare binoculars and a Collins field guide are carried. The experience is designed for no more than four guests and also suits companions interested in El Jable’s scenery, ecology and conservation story.

The standard departure is a shared small-group tour. A private departure is available only when specifically agreed in advance.
