Eurasian Stone-curlew, Burhinus oedicnemus, is a bird of the Burhinidae family that breeds across western Europe, the Canary Islands and north Africa, extending east through Lithuania, northern Kazakhstan and far western China to the Levant, Iraq and western Pakistan. It is a wader, but it favours dry open country with patches of bare ground. The species is also known for its strong yellow and black bill, large yellow eyes and cryptic plumage, and it shows bold black and white patterning in flight.
