8-Day Uganda Gorillas, Chimpanzees and Birding Safari
Across eight private days in western Uganda, combine primate tracking with wildlife drives at Bwindi, Queen Elizabeth, Kibale and Murchison Falls.
About this tour
This eight-day private safari crosses several of western Uganda’s contrasting landscapes. After arrival in Entebbe, the route heads north to Murchison Falls National Park. Time in the park includes a visit to the upper viewpoint, a wildlife drive and an approach to the lower section of the falls. These days combine broad savannah scenery with opportunities to observe birds and other wildlife.
The journey then continues south to Kibale National Park for guided chimpanzee tracking. From Kibale, the programme moves to Queen Elizabeth National Park, where a game drive focuses on the park’s open-country wildlife and the possibility of seeing tree-climbing lions. The final protected area is Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, the setting for a guided mountain gorilla trek. A packed lunch is planned for the forest day, and the following morning begins the long return drive to Entebbe for departure.
Christopher prepares the final version around the guests’ available time, interests, accommodation preference, permits and selected activities. Gorilla and chimpanzee permits can be included when requested and confirmed. Exact timings, properties and price are provided in the personalized proposal. Itinerary
Day 1
Arrival and overnight in Entebbe
Meet the guide on arrival at Entebbe International Airport, then continue to the selected hotel. No further activity is scheduled, leaving time to rest after the journey.
Day 2
North to Murchison Falls
After breakfast, travel to Murchison Falls National Park. Visit the viewpoint above the falls, where the Nile passes through the narrow gorge, before continuing to the confirmed accommodation in the park area.
Day 3
Murchison wildlife drive and falls viewpoints
Begin with a wildlife drive in Murchison Falls National Park. Later, visit the lower section of the falls before returning to the selected accommodation for a second night in the area.
Day 4
Southward transfer to Kibale
Leave Murchison Falls and continue south to Kibale National Park. This is primarily a transfer day, ending at the confirmed accommodation near the forest.
Day 5
Kibale chimpanzees and Queen Elizabeth transfer
Join a guided chimpanzee-tracking activity in Kibale National Park after breakfast. Afterwards, continue to Queen Elizabeth National Park for the overnight stay.
Day 6
Queen Elizabeth wildlife before Bwindi
Take a morning wildlife drive in Queen Elizabeth National Park, with tree-climbing lions among the possible observations. Continue to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and settle into the selected accommodation.
Day 7
Guided gorilla trek in Bwindi
Carry a packed lunch into Bwindi for the guided mountain gorilla trek. The time spent walking depends on the gorillas’ movements and forest conditions; permit details and the final plan are confirmed in advance. Return to the accommodation after the trek.
Day 8
Return journey to Entebbe
Begin the long road journey back to Entebbe after breakfast, pausing for lunch along the way. Continue to Entebbe International Airport in time for the confirmed departure arrangements.
