About this tour

Travel from Darwin into the rocky hills and woodland of the Top End for a day centred on wild Gouldian Finches and the broader ecology of their habitat.

The experience visits private land with rocky woodland, creeks and billabongs. More than 90 bird species have been recorded in the area, including 18 raptors, while crocodiles and other Top End wildlife may also be active around the water.

The Gouldian Finch sequences for the documentary Life in Colour were filmed in this landscape. Graeme Sawyer brings decades of environmental education, wildlife research and conservation work to a relaxed, small-group exploration of the area.

Wildlife is free-ranging and sightings vary with season and conditions. Send your dates, party size, birding interests and mobility needs so current departure details, availability and price can be confirmed.
