Icterus galbula
The Baltimore Oriole is a small, colorful songbird found in eastern North America. Males are vibrant orange with black wings and a black head, while females are more subdued with yellow-orange underparts and grayish-olive upperparts. Known for their beautiful flute-like songs, these orioles inhabit open woodlands, forest edges, and suburban areas with mature trees. They construct intricate hanging nests, often using fibers and grasses. Their diet consists of insects, fruits, and nectar. The Baltimore Oriole is a migratory species, spending winters in Central and South America. Habitat loss and nest predation are major threats to their populations.
